Death metal has never really been my thing. I get that it’s hugely popular, but I was too young for thrash and missed the initial wave of death completely. Doom and stoner have always connected with me, but there’s something about this album that hits a sweet spot for me. Maybe it’s the occult-tinged theme of tarot cards, or maybe it’s just the homage to that old, dirty, grungy style of death metal that got that whole sub-genre going. Either way, this album is really good. Check it out!

I knew if I'd go back through their discography from Forever Burning it was highly likely that I'd find some black gold. This was an easy purchase as every track is well crafted and has it's own qualities which sets it apart from the other tracks while the whole album remains one and is totally true to what you would expect from Denouncement Pyre: high class black metal with a lot of thrash appeal and diverse songwriting.
